Silas Phelps, son of Silas Phelps, was born in the city of Rochester, N.Y. and at the age of nineteen went to Maine to live with his uncle; remained one year, and then went to Caldwell's Manor, Canada, where he married Lucretia Emerick. Her Parent's were from Holland. Her father was a captain in the British army during the Revolutionary War, and lived to be one hundred and four years of age.
