    2. Cheryl, The land made available for Veterans of the Revolution was given, not sold. Comparatively few men took the offer. It was designed to settle the area to prevent the British from encroaching on the northern boundary of New York from Quebec. Your cemetery quest may be difficult. Many people were buried in private or family cemeteries that have long ago disappeared. If you don't find your ancestor in a known cemetery, you should look for deeds to land that they may have purchased. This could give you an idea of where to look for grave sites. As for the Malone move -- could be that since Malone was the largest settlement, that's were he chose to live. People started settling the area around Malone as early as 1796, so I doubt if land availability was the reason. Mac
