Hello: The 1850 Census Index has the following McDermads/mcDermonts/McDermonts for Franklin County in 1850: Francis McDermad in Westville, NY Margaret McDermon in Malone, NY Andrew McDermont in Malone, NY Francis McDermont in Malone, NY Rosannah McDermont in Malone, NY I am related to the Francis McDermad in Westville. He has listed his place of birth -- depending on the Census as either Lower Canada or Ireland -- and I tend to think that he might haave emigrated from Ireland to Canada. Does anyone have more information on this family ?? Francis moved to Midland County MI by 1859 He had a son named Clemence, and I noted another Clemence living in Franklin County, NY in the 1860 Census. Thank you Bob White
