Hi Listers, I am trying to find more information on a PETTEE family who settled in Moira, NY. They also lived in other areas of Franklin and St. Lawrence Co. Their names were James and Mary/Polly PETTEE. They relocated to NY from VT after 1830. The record I have states they also lived in Bucks Bridge and Potsdam. I'm not sure which county Bucks Bridge is in. I have their dates of death as June 17, 1851 and March 31, 1852 respectively, but do not know the location or where they are buried. If anyone can help here I would appreciate it. This couple had a son, James PETTEE jr. who m. Sally OTIS June June 9, 1822. I do not know where this marriage took place but suspect VT. This couple is shown in the 1840 Moira census with 1 male 15/20 and 2 females 10/15. If anyone can tell me the names of these children or if there were more children born to this couple, that too would be much appreciated. My information tells me this couple also lived in Brush's Mills and that James was a blacksmith. I have found their dates of death and know they are both buried in Sunnyside Cemetery, Brushton, New York. I do not know which town they died in. James and Mary Polly Pettee also had a daughter, Mary-Polly who married John Cooper and this couple lived in Moira. They had the following children born in NY, but I do not know the place: Olive L. Cooper b. July 10, 1831 Sarah-Sally G. Cooper b. Aug 10, 1834 Royal J. Cooper,, b. July 14, 1839 Elizabeth L. Cooper, b. Aug 10, 1842 George A. Cooper b. June 12, 1847 Three older children were probably b. VT are: James Metcalf Cooper, b. Apr 8, 1825 Mary Cooper, b. July 5 1827 Clarissa Maria Cooper b. March 26, 1829 I do know this Cooper family relocated to JoDavies Co. IL and show their in the 1860 census, but many of these children may have married and stayed in the NY area. Any help with them also appreciated.
