I have a bit of a puzzle here and wondered if someone can connect and help sort it out? In 1879, a Nelson Rushford was located in Jones County, IA selling land to Henry Denio. I know that the family probably originated in the Malone / Chateaugay area and started to do some digging. I also had a Octavia Cahier married to Isidore Odon in 1866 at Chateaugay, NY. To make a long story short, after looking a census records, putting 2 and 2 together with other Cahier and Denio members, I have concluded that Nelson Rushford is Isidore Odon. I also understand that the French spelling was Rochefort and often seen with a hyphenated or "dit" name of Odon attached. This would make sense. Isidore Rochefort dit Odon (aka Nelson Rushford) was born sometime in September 1841 in NY according to the 1900 Jones County, IA census. Octavia was born September 1834 in Canada. The had at least one child named Emma (born August 1871) and maybe a son named Michael? Can anyone have these people in their tree and/or can direct me to someone who can help? Thanks! Steven
