    1. Coreys in the Town of Brandon
    2. Carl Johnson
    3. Does anyone out there have any information on the location known as Coreys in the Town of Brandon? I have traced some of my ancestral Johnson family members there, but had never heard of the place before. A current DeLorme map actually pinpointed the location for me, but I haven't seen any other records that refer to a place called Coreys. Does it still exist? Also interested in anyone who has any information or connection to the Johnsons that came from that area -- Philander, William, Charles, Eugene, Guy, Jesse. They moved on to the Lake Placid/North Elba/Jay area of Essex County around 1900. My thanks for any assistance. -- Carl Johnson cjohnson@nycap.rr.com http://home.nycap.rr.com/cjohnson

    3. Mary, Sorry for such a delay in responding to you. I put your email in a folder to respond to and things came up and now just getting around to. Anyway, My grandaunt (my grandfathers sister) married Milton Palmer from Owls Head New York. I don't have much on him except that he died on 9 Nov 1933, had eight children (Casper, Luella, Erwin, Dolloff, Dorothy, Orin, Percy and Pauline). and they had a farm in St. Regis Falls, New York (which is right next to Owls Head). He married Eudora Young on 19 Apr 1910 in Rutland Vermont, so he would have to have been born at least in the 1890's. I know that after her husband died, "the boy's" ran the farm that I believe had been Milton's father or grandfathers and Eudora worked as a chambermaid in a hotel in Malone NY. Hope something here helps, Richard Young Mary Fose wrote: > I am searching for the John Palmer family. John came to the US from > England/Ireland. 3. Greeting all, I am a new member. I am looking for a researcher, professional or volunteer, who lives in Franklin County, to help me find a marriage record for my 3rd great grandparents Nathaniel PHILBRICK and Mercy Ann BEEDY. They were possibly married in Franklin County, probably Malone, probably between 1840 and 1844. Mercy Ann's father, Daniel BEEDY (misspelled BEDEE in the census), was living in Malone in 1840 with his wife Sarah and 8 children. Nathaniel was born 1819 in Irasburg, VT, and Mercy Ann was born 1822 in NY, possibly Essex County. Nathaniel and Mercy Ann had a daughter named Ellen born about 1844 in NY, probably Franklin County. I will appreciate any help anyone is able to give me. Jack W. Ralph Jack@Ralph.org

    1. HICKOK FAMILY Marriages - Newspaper Articles
    2. James J Leogue
    3. Wonder if there is any kind soul out there who would help out a lost soul in Florida. I am looking for a record of the marriage of Myron Nye Hickok and Eunice Cummings or Cumings. Most likely it would have taken place around in the 1825 to 1830 time frame as I have their first child, at least the first I know of, born abt 1830. Eunice was born January 21, 1804. The household ages in the 1830 census indicate that Myron was married at the time. Any help on this or other Hickok information from Franklin Co. would be much appreciated. Jim in Florida

    3. Darlene, I have another way you can thank the volunteers that helped you with an obituary. Why not post it to the following site: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/indx/NY.html You will find Franklin County on the list and then can choose Obits to post your info. I just did mine and it's easy. It's something I have been "meaning to do" for a long time. Your note just reminded to to get going! If we all post Franklin County Wills, Pensions, Obits, Bios etc then we can fill up this site with information that will benefit everyone. I love reading about YOUR ancestors - and they just might end up being MINE too. 3. Becky and All, I too am having a difficult time with cemeteries in Franklin County. I suspect that some of our ancestors are buried in unmarked graves. I would like just to know for sure which cemetery. I have some death certificates from late 1800s and early 1900s that give Wylie Cemetery in North Bangor for one spouse and Cooks Corners as the burial place for the other spouse. I KNOW that they are buried together. Can any one with knowledge of the North Bangor/Ft Covington area comment on cemetery possibilities in this area? Thanks, Judy Mott Strong http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~mottgene/ Becky B Frank wrote: > Is there more than one cemetery in Fort Covington? 1. Franklin County Cemeteries
    2. Hi List, I can give a few suggestions on finding cemeteries in Franklin County. 1. A place to start would be the following USGS Mapping Information Site at: http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html Insert New York, Franklin County, and then Cemetery for the Feature Type and then send the query. That should get you a rather long list. 2. There is a book at various libraries that lists all of the Cemeteries in the United States by State and Town. I do not recall the name, but it would be in Reference or Genealogy. 3. Last year I wrote to the Hillside Rest and the Elmwood Cemeteries and got my letters returned. I did also write to the following two Cemeteries and got replies. Ft. Covington Cemetery Ft. Covington, NY 12937 & Maple Hill Cemetery Ft. Covington, NY 12937 Good luck. Dick Kearns CA

    2. Don't give up on the cemeteries. It is unlikely that many people were buried in unmarked graves! Northern New York has many small cemeteries on side roads, some still grave and others now in fields or woodlots when the course of the roads changed. The U.S. Government makes finely detailed maps that can assist you if you can narrow your search a bit. It's been years since I have used any of the maps, but I know they can be quite expensive and you may want to hunt up an archive that has them available for viewing. Mac

He was living in Fort Covington and really should be buried there. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Becky beckybea@juno.

    1. Looking for Bell ancestor's
    2. Hi! I am trying to locate Pardon Bell, b. abt. 1848, in St. Lawrence County, New York. He moved to Franklin County, New York after the murder of his second wife, Belle Compo Bell, in 1897. Apparently he remarried and is buried in Mooers, New York, along side his sister, Lydia Ann Bell. Lydia Ann Bell was of "unsound mind" and her brother Pardon Bell took care of her after the death of her father in 1883. Pardon Bell also had a son named Winfred Bell, who was described as deaf and dumb, and attended a school in Malone. He married in lived in Franklin County, New York, working in a paper factory. Hopefully someone will recognize this family, or perhaps someone could tell me what cemetery they may be buried in. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Debbie gdkats@aol.com
