Dear listers, Would anyone be researching the BRIGGS or STARK(S) families of Franklin County? I am hoping for a lead on the following: Edith BRIGGS, parents unknown, married John STARK(S) sometime prior to 1822. She was born c1800 and died c1845, probably after they moved to St. Lawrence Co. I found a little on John STARK or STARKS (born between 1794-97and died c1885). He had originally operated a woolen mill in Ft. Covington, later owned/operated a woolen mill in Malone, and finally moved to Waddington and sucessfully ran one there. I found limited information on John at Wead Library but am hoping to know parents of both he and Edith. Any leads or info on any BRIGGS or STARK(S) families of that area in that time would be appreciated. Robin in Connecticut

Originally written in 1882, it was reissued in 1994. I don't remember any mention of the kidnapping and rape information that you are looking for, but it is an interesting book, never-the-less.
