    3. Does anyone have access to the Saranac Free Library or Blue Mountain Historical Society to check the above census. Looking for my grandfather CLARENCE HUGHTO b. 1899. There was an ANDREW HUGHTO with infant, CLARENCE in the 1900 census in the above area. Need to know if Clarence is still with Andrew and his wife, Milie or Nilie. Grandpa, Clarence was placed in Ogdensburg Orphanage sometime about between 1899-1905. Could someone please help. I don't find the 1905 census listed in the FHL of Latter Day Saints, or I would order film and check myself. Any help would help me break down this brick wall. My only other source might be the 1910 census listings from the Orphanages in Ogdensburg, NY. He might possibly be listed there under CLARENCE HUGHTO or CLARENCE BRUNNER. His birthdate was Dec. 14, 1899 to the best of my knowledge. Many thanks for any tidbit of info. Sarah

    3. Sarah, Go here: http://www.rootsweb.com~nysource/county/ulst002.htm Scroll down till you find the 1905 census message. It says, "Some counties include scatterd returns from earlier or later censuses". The census record for 1905 has 125 reels (microfilm); 35mm. The first NY County reel begins with the returns from the 1870 census. I want to thank you for turning me on to this information. I have several lines from NY and I had no idea there was a 1905 census until you brought the subject to my attention. Thank you. I found another interesting site with excellent historical informtion on earlier New York. http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/11029a.htm Carol Searching: WONSOWICZ, REGULA, WILKEY, GOODY, VIEAU, PEPIN, LEDUC, MCCOSHEN, NESBITT, PROVOST ...all in New York. 3. Looking for BRICK WALL. Grandfather: CLARENCE HUGHTO (possibly born BRUNNER or HUGHTO) Dec 14, 1899. Not sure where. Thought to have been placed in orphange in Odgensburg, NY about 1902-03 at age three. Parents still alive. On some papers he lists ALBERT BRUNNER and HELEN FLEMING as his parents. On his social sec. application he lists ANDREW HUGHTO and HELEN HUGHTO as parents and birthplace as Santa Clara, NY. He was never adopted. I grew up with the surname of HUGHTO, but Clarence was in the Army under HUGHTO in 1916 and married in 1923 under BRUNNER. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is an ANDREW HUGHTO 33, born Canada (Hughto is a french name, english variation) and a Nelie or Millie Hughto 16, with a son, CLARENCE age 5/12 months in the 1900 Franklin Co. Altamont Twp. census. Can anyone tell me if this family is still together in 1905 NYS Census???? I have written letter after letter with no positive results and it's driving me nuts. Please...... Sarah

    2. There are two books, both available on microfilm at the Family History Centers, that are very helpful, A HISTORY OF ST. LAWRENCE AND FRANKLIN COUNTIES, NEW YORK, by Franklin B. Hough (FHC #0808345) and THE HISTORY OF CLINTON AND FRANKLIN COUNTIES, NEW YORK, by D. Hamilton Hurd (FHC # 1000238).
