    1. Malone
    2. I see the Franklin County list is rather active today, so I'm going to put in my two cents. I'm looking for information on the following families. I'm particularly looking for full names, birth and death dates and parent's names. Louis BOVA/BOUVAIS, born ca. 1805 Canada, wife Sophia, born ca. 1819 Canada. Their daughter Sophia (1836-1891) married William RIVET/RIVETT/RAVETTE who was born ca. 1830 and died after 1925. Antoine PATENAUDE (1809-1888) married Lucie MONJEON (1811-1888). Their son, Antoine/Augustin PATENAUDE (1835-1890) Canada, married Adeline JARVIS/GERVAIS (1840-1864) Canada. These families are from the Malone, Constable, Trout River, NY, area. Any info most appreciated. TIA. Sue Schroeder ABQ

    1. LAROCQUE, CREIGHTON, COSGROVE
    2. Kathryn Banos
    3. How about some new names for the list? My Great Grandfather (Rod Larocque) was born May 8, 1901 around Tupper Lake. In the next few years, both he and his brother were given to foster parents. (His mother died of TB). Rod's new family was Katherine Josephine & James Creighton. They renamed him Paul Wilbur Creighton. Not sure who his brother went with or what his name was. Around 1910? his foster mother married Edward Cosgrove. Don't know what happened to James. I can't find any of them in the 1910 census but in 1920, Edward & Katherine Cosgrove & Paul Creighton (foster son) are found in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. I have their info after that but would like to find something on Paul (Rod), either his foster parents (Katherine Jospephine & James Creighton) or his real parents (Larocque, Larock?) Anyone have info on Creighton, Cosgrove or Larocque? Thanks so much! Kathryn Banos KBanos@telocity.com

I am researching more specificly in Malone, Franklin County New York for information on a BOUDREAU family. John N. BOUDREAU was born in the mid 1880's in Malone. He was in Worcester, Worcester County Ma. in the 1940's. Lucy, I too have RUSSELL's in my line but none in New York that I'm aware of? Mine start in the 1700's in Tennessee > Arkansas > Texas > New Mexico. Happy hunting folks. Freddie B. Stewart in Massachusetts.

    1. Re: WANTED: Santa Clara Info
    2. Wayne Miller
    3. You ask more questions than I have time to answer fully. For early history of the area, I recommend Hurd's History of Clinton and Franklin County (1880 - reprinted by Clinton Co. Historical society, 1976). It gives the story of early development including building the railroad. For more detailed info on the route and stations, see: Railroads of the Adirondacks : a history / by Michael Kudish published in 1996. For more info on current and recent matters, I suggest you contact the Waverly Historical Society in St. REgis Falls. Judy Weaver is one of the more active folks. As for Santa Clara itself, it peaked a hundred years ago. After the last was lumbered over, then pulped over (clear cut), the slash (waste) left behind dried out and became a fire waiting to happen. Major fires east of Santa Clara around 1911 finished things off. A few people survived mostly by hunting and gathering. My best friend in high school had an uncle that raised fourteen kids in Santa clara. My friend claimed there were hundreds of deer hides in the attic of his uncle's house. The family lived on venison. There are some large private land holdings in the area beside Champion, and those 'camps' have provided some employment. The most famous were the Dexters. Mr. Dexter built a big place on what is still known as Dexter Lake, but he was murdered while driving into town. His killer was never identified. And Shania Twain, the country music star, who had a big place on the Blue Mountain Road. She even built a recording studio there (along with lots of other stuff), but failed to get Adirondack Park Agency permission or at least full permission. After several years of legal wrangling, she sold the place and moved to Switzerland a few years ago. Lots of local capenters, electricians and other trades people were well treated and often employed by her. 1. WANTED: Santa Clara Info
    2. Brad Chapman & Lisa Lawrence
    3. Hello, I am seeking information regarding the hotel in Santa Clara, Franklin County, NY. It is located along State Highway 458. Currently it is called Lucy's Santa Clara Lodge (I believe), but for years it was called White's Santa Clara Lodge. Specifically would like to know history about the establishment. When was it built, who has run it over the years, what type of people did it serve, etc. Additionally would be interested in hearing any history regarding the Santa Clara region. What types of industries were in the area? When was the railroad built that used to go through along the river? Where were the depots? When did it stop operating? When did Champion company come to own so much of the land? When did the hunting clubs start buying up the land? Would also be curious to know about the campground that used to be located in Santa Clara. I believe it closed several years ago, and may be part of the land that is being returned to the Adirondack Park. Would also enjoy hearing from anyone that knows of any books that might have been published on the area. I am not specifically interested in any one family or families from the area at this time. My interests are solely for historical knowledge of the area. Thanks for your help. Lisa

    3. Looking for someone going to Franklin Co. Clerks Office that would be willing to look up a birth & marriage for my grandparent & ggrandparents. Have written to Albany months ago and haven't heard a word. CLARENCE W. HUGHTO b. Dec 14, 1899. Marriage of his Parents: ANDREW HUGHTO, HURTEAU, HURTO and NELLA, NELLA (possibly HELEN) OWENS. They are listed in the 1900 census as living in Altamont Twp., Franklin Co., NY and married less than a year, so marriage would be 1899-1900. I have had a terrible time trying to find a birth and marriage for this family. My grandpa was placed in an Orphanage in Ogdensburg, NY at age 3. I finally have his papers after four years of writing letters. Could anyone help? Are there any HUGHTO, etcs. living in Franklin Co. Please contact me, I have a great deal of info on the family. Many thanks for any kindness. Sarah

    2. Does anyone out there have access to the 1900 Federal Census? I'm looking for Constable, Franklin County. The family is William REVETTE, wife Christy/Christal. William would be around 66 years old. REVETTE can also be spelled Ravette, Rivette, Rivet. His first wife died in 1891 and I don't know when he and Christy married so he could be living alone in 1900. Christy shows up on the 1905 census. Also how about the 1930 census? I'm trying to pinpoint his time of death. Could anyone find him on the 1930 census? Same place. I've got him in Constable in 1925 - age 97! TIA Sincerely, Sue Schroeder
