    3. John, It sure is a small world. Yes I love the shopping here, went to Syracuse yesterday shopping. My favorite stores are TJ Max and Marshall. Spent most of the day shopping in them yesterday. I have sisters that live in Malone and I will ask them when I go up on the Lepage's name. Maybe you would know Gale Tuper from Moria NY another little town near Brushton. He found me doing genealogy research on the Jock side of the family. He is a retired State Trooper from Moria NY and have been here several times to visit. I live near Utica/Rome airport and he flew his plane here and I went to pick him up. Very nice people, also found a Rhoda Trumble who is on the Jock side of the family and I have been up there to visit her several times, she looks just like my mother. It is so nice to meet relatives that you don't know. I just wish I could find more information on my father's side of the family. I am trying to make the connection to the Eileen Donan Castle which is really the McRae Castle in Scotland. You never know there might be a connection there. Good Luck on your research. Peggy - oh I have a webb site which needs to be updated. 3. Thanks for the reply. I am living in Norwood, NY now and took a ride to that area about 2 months ago. I saw some of the home that my wife's relatives resided in or are still living in. Went to the cemetery but did not have much info at that time and could not find anything. The names you mentioned I have not come across in my reasearch either. Sorry. Good hunting. John

    1. Re: [NYFRANKL] Birth Records - Tupper Lake
    2. There are a couple of ways to obtain birth certificates. New York State required that vital statistics be filed with the State beginning in 1880. The early records are very sparse. For 1910 they should have a copy on file. There's no guarantee though. The necessary forms and fee schedule are at http://www.health.state.ny.us/nysdoh/vr/forms/genealogy.htm Fees start at $22. You could also try contacting the Town Clerk for Tupper Lake. I found this on the web. 1. Re: [NYFRANKL] Saranac TB Hospital
    2. There were several hospitals in the area as well as several hundred cure cottages. Raybrook was the largest hospital and Will Rogers was only for actors. For a history of Dr. Trudeau and the Adirondack Cottage Sanitarium, check out http://www.trudeauinstitute.org/ As for records, the Saranac Lake Free Library may be a good place to start. http://www.nc3r.org/slfl/white.htm There could also be information at the New York State Archives in Albany. I lived in a cure cottage and don't ever remember seeing any records from TB patients. 3. Here is another Legault that I found in my data base. I have no dates for anyone in this section. However there is a possibility that Leonard St. Mary was b. 1925 and d. 1991; and his spouse Marion b. 1930, d. 1983. Family possibly lived in Malone, Franklin Co., NY. Perhaps this would give you some idea as to the possible age of this Bruce Legault. 1. LEONARD1 ST. MARY. He married MARION ESELTINE, daughter of CLINTON ESELTINE and MARY HUMISTON. They had other children, but I have not dates. Listing only the one connected to Legault. iii. MARILYN ST. MARY m. BRUCE LEGAULT. Notes for MARILYN ST. MARY: 2 children. iv. BARBARA ST. MARY v. ALTON ST. MARY Endnotes 1. Humiston gen forum with combined records of George & Louise Humiston book and data compiled by Wallace Dwight Humiston, "Electronic." 3. Rich, I have only this small amount of infomation as I was interested in the Susan Duheme who married D. R. Humiston. It is most likely that Sylvester Duhume's wife is listed with brothers and sisters which I did not record because that was not my direct interest. What I have so far discovered is that there was a lot of going back and forth between Quebec and Franklin Co., NY as well as adjacent counties. There also seem to be frequent marriages among these people with a French name and a more American name. My main quest is the Humiston/Humason family. In the notes there is reference to a person who submitted the data. That file had a lot of French/Quebec data.Perhaps you can find more from that data base. You did not mention the maiden name of Joseph's mother. Peggy Lyte Tyrrell Descendants of Antoine Legault Generation No. 1 1. ANTOINE LEGAULT. He married EMILIE VILLLENEUVE. Child of ANTOINE LEGAULT and EMILIE VILLLENEUVE is: i. MARIE ANASTASIE LEGAULT, b. September 9, 1880; d. August 24, 1945; m. 1. Re: [NYFRANKL] Saranac TB Hospital
    2. Barb & Joe Jacobs
    3. Having grown up in Saranac Lake, I remember that there were several TB Sanitoria -- The Trudeau Sanitorium, the NY State Sanitorium at Raybrook, NY (just a few miles from Saranac Lake on the road to Lake Placid), the Santononi in Saranac Lake, Will Rogers Memorial and numerous private builldings dedicated to the care of TB patients -- more commonly known as "Cure Cottages". Many of them were located on Helen Hill, Shepard Avenue, Church Street, Main Street, and Riverside Drive. Their numbers diminished greatly with the advent of the "miracle drug" Streptomicin around 1950. Because we who lived there year-round came into frequent contact with the ambulatory TB residents of the community, we as "healthy" students at the local schools were given a precautionary TB X-ray at the beginning of every new school year. Many of the patients who "took the cure" stayed on in the area after the remission of their symptoms. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mickey Cendrowski" <74bug@nauticom.net> To: <NYFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 25, 2004 10:07 PM Subject: [NYFRANKL] Saranac TB Hospital > Brand new to this list. > > Can anyone please tell me if there is a web page devoted to the Saranac TB Hospital, or better yet, is there a place that one can contact concerning old patient records? > > Mickey > 74bug@nauticom.net > > > > ==== NYFRANKL Mailing List ==== > NOTICE: Posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political > announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, > etc. (in other words - spam) is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. > Consideration for exceptions, contact Kathleen Burnett kathleenburnett@earthlink.net > > ============================== > Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration > Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial. Just askin'. 'Cuz if that is the case, then there are a number of Dr. (Edward) Trudeau's descendants still around, and might be helpful, even if the American Management (which took over when the San closed) isn't. The presumed "heir" to the records might well be the Trudeau Institute which opened on the Lake in 1954. And, of course, there were a number of other sans in SL that were often referred to as "hospitals." Good luck, Brauck.

They are buried in 120 national cemeteries and some state cemeteries. The records go back to the Civil War. However, nearly half of the Union dead from the Civil War are unidentified. If you are tracing an ancestor, the government has a search engine. You must know the last name. If you have more information, there is an advanced search available.
