Just yesterday I found the parents names of her grandmother. Her grandmother was Philomene Bell, born in NY state (we believe Malone)in either 1862 or 1863. She was married in St. James church in Manville, RI in 1887 and the record lists her father as Francoise Bell(or Baylle dit Bell) and her mother as Marie Malone. I also saw a Julia Bell as godmother on one of their children's babtism records. I believe there is a connection here. Let me know what you think. DWYER, 95, of Church Street, Chateaugay died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006 at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country. She was born in Malone on April 17, 1911, the daughter of Edson and Emma (LeMay) Wilson. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 1 p.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Chateaugay, with the Rev. Francis Coryer officiating. Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery. Some thought it may have been Ontario at the time it was right on the boarder. John and Mary came to Michigan about 1870. There were some Viau's in the Standish, Arenac co. (then Bay co.) Michigan. They also may have been in Bay co. first. I also have a Viau who married a Louis MOMBLEAU/(MAUBLOT) their daughter Marie married J.B. Berthiaume. then their daughter Madeleine born 1799 married Clement BOUTEILLIER. Any Connections? I would appreciate any help and would offer what little I can find. John was born in Franklin co NY according to his obit, it mentioned his father pasted away when he was 10 which would be about 1849. It doesn't mention his mother. But there is a Elizabeth L. Wright who is buried by him in Standish Michigan and is about 20 years older than he is and has Gibson on the bottom of her stone. I have a few pictures of people from Malone Franklin co. NY. Taken probably before or around 1900. One was an old grandmother. I would like to identify. What are you looking for if I ever run across anything or already have I'd be glad to share it. My ancestors, George, Marcellus, and Vivana Blanchard were half brothers living in Franklin County; they were born between 1825-1830 in either VT or NY. Another half-bro was Hiram b abt 1837; these were the children with Orpha Canfield b abt 1790 in VT, d abt 1844 in Clinton Cty. The father was David Blanchard b 4/30/1794 in VT, d 2/1867 in Schuyler Falls (Clinton Cty), NY; his second wife, Lorain Perry b abt 1826 (abt the ages of her step-children), d 1/29/1899 in Plattsburgh. Lorain's children, born in Clinton Cty, included Orpha M. b 1845; Mary b abt 1846; Rollin b abt 1849; Stanton b 1860 and Viola b aft 1860 George, abt 1829, probably never married; he died in either Malone or Duane, NY 5/6/1890 and is buried at Stafford Hill Cemetery in Beekmantown. Marcellus(o) b abt 1820, d 3/12/1898 in either Duane or Malone; he is buried at Hoose Cemetery in Duane. He married Harriet J. Squares. Vivana b abt 1825 in either VT or NY, d bet 1873-1875 in Essex Cty; he is my brick wall because while I presume that David is his father, I can't find any record of his mother's name, but believe that Orpha Canfield may be his mother. He married Caroline Bishop abt 1852, and she died in Willsboro in 1898, a widow. Please contact me if you have any information on this family; we live in Los Angeles, and we are making a special trip to Upstate NY next week to research this family further. If anyone has viewed and copied probate records in Malone, please tell me where the courthouse is located and what I need to do to prepare...should I call ahead for files to be pulled from archives? What is the name of the probate court (Superior Court, Surrogate Court?) Thanks so much.
