I have done several searches for info in historical Northern New York newspapers online, but so far, no luck. Hopefully someone will see his obit. His son Roland transported him too and from hospital, according to the Malone Farmer in 1917, but I have found no notice of his death. Author: bkjcox Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.franklin/3251.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Faye. Jane Root Cox is in my database as being married to William Cox. I knew she lived in Syracuse in 1930, and is supposedly not related to my family. Her daughter Belle Belair lived in Syracuse in 1954 upon the death of Belle's brother John W Cox in a fiery car crash in Brandon NY. John W Cox married Leila(Lela) Cox, who was daughter of Henry and Minnie Cox, who were my great grandparents through my father Robert Cox and his father Ernest Cox, son of Henry and Minnie. William and Jane were pedro card club members in West Brandon in 1928. My father always said John W Cox also went by the name of Jack Cox and Jack Root. William and Jane had another daughter Mrs George Bombard. Reference nnyln.net The Malone Farmer Nov 5 1930 regading Jane and son Billy of Syracuse, and The Malone Telegram Sep 15, 1952 for Leila's obit. Leila and Jack had children Leonard, Roscoe, and Mina (Goyea)-who's children still live in the Brandon area. One-Ronnie Goyea lives up the road from me.! I have 941 names in my Cox database. This is according to the article, "County townships' organizations dates" by Harold Brown which was in the Malone Evening Telegram, date unknosn. Since the largest village in the Town of Altamont was Tupper Lake, many people were often confused. In July of 2004, it was re-named as the town of Tupper Lake. Somewhere I have the newspaper clipping on its renaming but can't seem to locate right now. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
