The two older boys, Edward and Granville's mother was born in Canada and the younger boy, Quentin's mother was born in NY. I think Edward was married to Katherine and had Edward and Granville. Katherine may have died and Edward Russell then married Barbara and had Quentin. This is what it looks like. Check it out. Here is a newspaper site to check http://news.nnyln.net/ Click on Franklin County. Search your names is quotes. I tried a few and found quite a bit of info Try "Bertha Badger" Obit for Mother Obit for Father Obit for brother( Alfred ) "Angeline Russell" Obit for husband, John Amlott "Angeline Amlott" "Ella Russell" Try other names, too. My Mom will be thrilled with all the new info. She had always thought that perhaps Grnville had been adopted by Bertha Badger as she never had children of her own. It is nice to finally be able to identify his parents and that they were actually Bertha's brother and the boys were her nephews. She never had much information on the Russells until I started searching and now she has alot of information on them! Again thanks to all! There is a family story that was news to me, that someone in the family was in some sort of legal capacity to issue a death sentence;, either as a judge or in the military or as the executioner. The story goes that the death penalty was carried out in Canada between 1844-1865 or so. I've researched the family and I think if there was anyone who might have been in a capacity to impose or carry out a death sentence, it would have taken place not in Canada but in Franklin County, NY between 1865-1930. I believe this to be more likely because there were policemen and councilmen in the family at that time, but in the years prior in Canada, my family was full of poor farmers and servants. Is there a way to research executions in the State of NY, especially in Franklin County? Where would I begin to look? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
