The Sanders family was among the early settlers of Fort Covington after the R. War. Any and all information on this family or other early settlers at that time would be usefl. It is believed they came from the Vermont/New Hampshire border and several served in the Revolutionary War and would be buried around the Fort Covington area. Thank you Jean

Good morning all, I received my 4th Grandfather's will dated 1862. He lived in Chateaugay, Franklin Co., NY. Following is an excerpt. Second I give and devise to my son Luther H Smith his heirs and assigns all that certain Peace (sic) or parcel of land situated lying and being in the town of Chateaugay County of Franklin in the state of NY being part of lot No fifty-five of township No seven of the old Military Trust.......... What is the old Military Trust? >> In the above, the term "Military Trust" should read Military Tract. The references to the "Old Military Tract" are common in old deeds. Mac

I also have a record of Col. John Franklin (b. 26 Sept 1749) marrying Abigail Fuller in Wilkes-Barre, PA, 25 Nov 1790. This was a reference in a historical text, but not proven with hard evidence. This was a second marriage for both. J. Franklin had previously been married to Lydia Doolittle and had three children, Billa, Amos, and Keziah. Abigail had previously been married to Capt. James Bidlack, who was killed in the Battle of Wyoming, PA, and had four children from that marriage, Stephen, Sally, Hettie, and James. Although I have seen three children listed as being born to Abigail and John Franklin (Ruth, John and David) in "online" family trees, I have read references that stated that no children were born to Abigail and John Franklin. It was stated that he raised the children as his own. I would be interested to know if anyone has hard evidence regarding possible children born to Abigail and John Franklin. Laurel Dearborn
I would like to obtain the death certificate for James Monroe Wolfe (jr) 1844-1931. He is buried in franklin Falls New York. I would be willing to cover costs and expenses if someone there could help me. I am really interested in tracing his mother Roxby Sanders and thought that the death certificate might tell where his parents were born. Thank you for any advice you may have Jean Sanders (P.S. she may also be buried in Franklin Falls as Roxby Sanders Wolf(e)
Hi All Thought I would post again (with the email address and another researcher). I did not realize there was such a need for others and wanted to share. I apologize to anyone who already saw this. Several persons responded to ask about Robert Elliott's email address (which is [email protected]). I responded to a posting of his that he would be going to the National Archives and would do research. I contacted him and was very happy with the results and time within which he sent me the entire file. I think he did a great job and he even emailed me to let me know the file was in the mail. My file was on Benjamin WEST, GA Another person who does NARA research: Michael O. Anderson, email is: DC [email protected] He has a web page and it lists the various types of research he will do. I contacted him and he sent me his web page address: http://www.impactvr.com/DCResearch/ <------------- [Must have last slash] Then he sent me several attachments in response to questions, listing in more detail and costs. I have not used him, but may try to see how he does. He says he will research and ship in about a week. I do not know either of these people personally, but with all the postings on NARA and fees going up, thought I would let others know there is someone who will do the research for you, and get the entire file and ship it to you for about the same cost as NARA Jan
HELP Searching for my Grandfather Herbert J Wilson and, hopefully, any siblings he may have had as well as my Great-Grandparents. Herbert J Wilson was listed as a voter in MA in October of 1904. It listed his age as 42, born in Bangor, NY This would indicate a year of birth of 1862? All records in the Bangor Town Hall were destroyed in a fire in 1942. Later, the local Catholic church also suffered a fire. We believe that Herbert married Rose M. There are no records of this in Massachusetts; nor is there any record of their death. My Father, Wallace Wilson, was born August 29, 1902; possibly in NY since there is no record of this in MA. HELP Thanx Phil

I would like to see if someone could please look up an obituary for me for Helen Beatrice Skutt, who died 8/23/1921 in Franklin (Death Certificate #44996). She had been in the area teaching at Lake Clear, NY. She was from Syracuse, NY. Her parents were Arthur & Isabelle Manahan Skutt. Our family has two different stories concerning her death. One was that she was involved in a bob sled accident and died from those injuries. Recently, we were told she died of consumption. We had never heard that before. Whatever information anyone could locate concerning Beatrice's time in the Franklin County area would be appreciated. We don't know much at all, but recently got the date of death from the NYS Archives. Thank you for all your help. Anne Ruggeri [email protected]
