My name is Susan R. Ofeldt I live in Fayetteville, North Carolina. I can't make it that far north so I am stuck on my Packard's from Franklin County, New York. Susan
Cornelius I do not know how it works but maybe if we allo started putting more querries on her it would make a difference. I am looking for any information anyone has on PACKARD's and HICKOK's(HICKEY's). I have a mystery GGGrandpa that was born somewhere in Franklyn County in 1845. David J. Packard was born there but left by 1850. Anyone got any suggestions? Susan

I agree with your comment about the lack of activity. I think there are a lot of confused people out there. I don't know exactly what was changed, but in my case I used to be subscribed to 6 New York State County sites and would receive separate e-mails telling me that there were new postings on those sites. I would then load the URL for that county and do a search on dates to be able to view the "latest entries" and then just review what was posted. Things seemed so simple then. I've got to admit that since the latest "improvements" were made, I don't seem to be able to access the information the way I used to. Does anybody know what I'm talking about? If so, maybe someone could offer some suggestions? Thanks. Regards, Cornelius McKenna
Can we do a roll call? I have not seen one of those in awhile on this list. He is right alot doesn't go on here. We are all guilty of that. Me included.

If the absence of activity on this board means that others are having as much trouble as I did finding this board, here is the reply I received from [email protected]: Go to the main board page, http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=main&r=rw and navigate to the board from there. To find Franklin, NY board, start at the above URL, click Localities>NorthAmerica>United States>New York>Franklin. Hope we see some activity soon.
As I am still hoping to find some definitive information on the parentage of my gg-grandmother from Grand Isle County, Vermont, Sophia Minona Clark, she was noted in the 1865 Shawnee County, KS State Census as having been born 23 March 1820, in Alburgh, VT. She married Hardy Platte Streeter of Fort Covington, Franklin Co., NY, and they appear in the census there together with the first few of their children on the Census of 1850. Hardy's Platte's parents were Benjamin B. Streeter and Sarah Reynolds; Benjamin B is believed to have died in Rouse's Point but both he and Sarah {Reynolds) Streeter are buried in Fort Covington. Sarah was also born in Grand Isle County, she was the daughter of Grindal Reynolds and Dorcas Landon. Via Detroit, Michigan in 1855, Hardy and Sophia migrated to Pettis Township, Platte Co., Missouri, where they appear in the 1860 Census and on to Topeka, Shawnee County, KS, where they are buried in the Topeka Cemetery. Sophia died in 1868. I am in possession of the excellent recent histories on Alburgh, Grand Isle and the Heroes by Allen Stratton, but I cannot make a specific connection to the several Clark families that lived there. The marriage of Benjamin B. and Sarah Reynolds is recognized in the History of South Heroe Island; Grindal Reynolds my ggg-grandfather and his wife, Dorcas Landon, are buried in the Grand Isle Cemetery on South Hero Island, which I have twice visited. Does anyone have any additional information on the descendants of the several Clark families that were living there in 1820, which might shed some light on Sophia's parentage? Might one of those Clark families be known to have migrated to Fort Covington, NY before 1840? If there is anyone on the Franklin County, NY list familiar with the Clark families that were living in Franklin County, or Fort Covington, between 1830 and 1850, might any of them have had a daughter Sophia? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
I can't seem to find the link to the Franklin Co site at Roots web. Will some kind soul send it to me ...Thank you much ! Joanne,Salem OR.
Good Morning List Since everyone has been commenting on how quiet the list is thought I'd get you Thinking with a question. Checking the 1880 Westville ,Franklin Co. census, I found a great-uncle's occupation listed as "miner". Can anyone tell me what type of mining was done in the Franklin Co.area during that time? Thanks Joanne,in sunny Salem,OR.
Hi List, I am trying to locate birth information on some of the Kenison/Kennison line that were born in the Bellmont-Malone area in the 1840's. The parents were William Kennison and Lozana Kenison. I am looking for a marriage date and location. First child was Lucy dob 9 Jan 1842, Henry/Lyman dob 21 Sep 1844, Anson dob 1 Sep 1846 and George dob 30 Aug 1848. They left New York after the birth of George and went to Silver Creek, Illinois. I have no marriage date or place for William and Lozana. They came from Canada having been born in Shefford/Covey Hill areas. Thanks, Carol in C'Ville
Joan, Your email came through fine. The list just hasn't been very busy lately. Darlene Southern California

Hello list, You might be interested in the "Families of the Pioneer Valley" CD which contains: "Springfield Families" by Thomas B. Warren. "Pynchon's Court Records 1638-1696". "Pynchon's Births, Marriages and Deaths 1638-1696". all of which were compiled from the record books he and his son kept for a number of years. I spoke to one of the people from Regional http://www.RegionalPublications.com and he informed me that the next CD's to be released will be Cemetery records for a lot of Mass & Conn towns. Also the "Dewey" series which is very similar to "Springfield Families" but from the Westfield Mass and surrounding towns. About 2000 pages of data and he said its only available in the Westfield Library. That one should be real good for us as lots of our people were from that area. Check out their site and let me know what you think.
I have been searching for a Samuel WILLARD who could be the father of a Sarah WILLARD born 1832. I did find a Samuel in the 1810 census of Chateaugay, Franklin, NY. Does anyone know anything about this family? I am trying to find her father. I have a Sarah WILLARD born 26 June 1832 in NY. No known county or town. On her death record it says her father was Samuel WILLARD born in NY also. She married George W. VANALSTINE (VANALSTYNE) on 18 October 1848 in unknown place. Possibly NY as he lived there a time. Not much to go on, but I am looking for some help. The death record does not list the name of Sarah's mother. Pam
