Hi again, Thanks everyone for your input. I have checked out Joyce's tri County site, that is where I found him on the tax record. MICHAEL sort of disappears for the 1830 Census. I believe he may be the MICHAEL CLARK in Almond, Allegany, NY for that census but, I don't have enough evidence to link him there . So far I can't find land records. There is a MICHAEL CLARK in Nunda 1840 & 1850. He is much younger and not mine, possibly a child or nephew. Anyway my MICHAEL may also be the MICHAEL CLARK of Aurelius, Cayuga, NY in 1820, good age. There seem to be two MICHAEL CLARK'S around the same age in the area. The other MICHAEL seems to be about 8 years younger and he dies in Buffalo area. My Michael Clark around 1847 moves to Port Allegany, McKean County for the 1850-1860 period and dies in Burtville, Potter County 1864. I did find the Mason Cutler information. Mason Cutler Jr. seems to have a child in Lindley in 1854. I suspect Lindley could be a place where Mason Cutler Sr.(it has to be him) might have been Justice of the Peace. Anyone have any idea how I could find that out? That is who the Justice of the Peace's were for a township? Sharon, Thanks for the information on the Cummings. You say they are in the 1870 Census. Which one? Is Avery Clark living with them? I wondered where they went. We have the 1880 Census Cd's at our Library. I'll go look for them there tomorrow, now that I have possibly another name. I had started doubting whether he was Joseph or Josiah or Joshua or something else. Sharon are they burried in the plot that Joseph Cummings purchased alongside Daniel's. ------- PORT ALLEGANY CEMETERY Back Gate Heimel Eastwood Chapin E.Allen Strawbidge Sherwood A.Smith H.W.Davis (Friedley,&Leet) Coon, (Kimble, and Bortho) M.Smith Dan Clark (#65) J.H. Church There are no headstones or any other type of marking on either the Clark or the Cummings plots, nor is there any indication that any had ever been there. A check with the mortuaries revealed that there is no known record of who is buried there other than the headstones, and more than once they have run into unknown graves when digging for another individual. A check with the local Clark family revelaed none of them even knew the plot existed, much less who was buried there. I found Daniel Clark's Interrment record in the Fairview Cemetery. I had to contact the Cemetery district to get the record. They only sent me Clark names. I couldn't find the Cummings in the 1860 Census there so I didn't look for them. Well I better end this. Thanks everyone for your help. If you run into anything else send it along please. Sincerely, Heather Dodge
