I live in Canandaigua, Ontario County, NY and would be very willing to check on local cemeteries. I encourage any one who would like to do this, to volunteer on the Random Act of Kindness web page. I am a volunteer for Dekalb County, TN. I have no family here but enjoy helping others. Since I cannot research my family in this county I can help others who do not live here but have ancestors here. You can be specific in what you volunteer for. Example, I only take digital pictures of tombstones, so I can easily e-mail them. Some people do courthouse look ups etc. You can recoup fees if there are any, but I always tell the ones I help to please pass the favor on to someone else. What comes around goes around. I have done maybe 8 in the last couple of years. Not a lot when you think about it. Sometimes I get a couple a month and then I go for several months and not have any lookups. It is very rewarding knowing that I can help some one who is unable to travel for different reason. I just finished one up for a lady in California. She was so excited. She got new names that she had not had before. Birth and death dates. Although I can not find the web page at this moment I am sure there is SKS who would have it and post it for others. I have a full time job, mother of a 10 and 6 year old, volunteer at school and coach basketball and soccer and I am still able to help others. So please think about it, you meet lots of enjoyable people. Well out the door for a championship football game, my sons team won every game this year, here's hoping we can pull one more off.
