I have been looking for some time for the entry of my great grandparents, Jeremiah and Lovina Olmsted, in the 1860 Census, in Borodino Village, Spafford, Onondaga Co., but with no success. Recently, I believe I have solved the mystery. On p. 734 of the Census, there is the following entry: Family 193 Isaac Olmsted 52 M Farmer NY Eunice " 50 F NY (Her father was Isaac Case.) George Case 12 M NY Family 194 Jeremiah " 20 M Laborer NY Melovia " 22 F NY Frank " 2 M NY Ezra " 1 M NY Both families are in the same house, but are enumerated as two families. I believe this entry was an error by the census taker. He used a ditto mark after Jeremiah. However, Jeremiah was in fact the son of Isaac Olmsted, and "Melonia" was Lovina Fish, Jeremiah's wife. Frank died the next year. "Ezra" was Eva, who married Miles Brott. All the ages substantiate this, and also there is no known Jeremiah Case in Spafford. Carl Hommel
