The first 3 books are 10,000 Vital Records, one covers Eastern NY from 1777-1834, one covers Central NY from 1813 to 1850 and the third covers Western NY from 1809 to 1850. Please be aware, these Vital Records were gleaned from Newspaper Announcements and organized into these books. They are NOT the end all. They will cover ONLY those vital records that made it into the newspapers and even then, I'm sure some were missed. Also be aware that just because one of your ancestors lived in Albany County, or Onondaga County that might not be the only place a notice was put in the paper. I have found many ancestor's when the researcher told me that they only lived in Albany county so I should look only there. That may be true. They may have only lived in Albany county, but they may have some family or friends that moved to a different county and in order to announce their marriage or a death they placed announcements in other counties. The fourth book I have is Jefferson County in the World War. I understand that this has nothing to do with the Finger Lakes but I wanted to make you all aware that I have it if you should like a look up from it. PLEASE follow these directions for asking for a lookup or your request will not be honored. If the list admin doesn't mind you asking on list then that is fine with me also. I prefer it that way myself because I could possibly answer more than one persons question with one answer. If the list admin does not approve then address your requests to me [email protected] znet.com and in the subject line and PLEASE PUT "VR Lookup" or "WW Lookup", depending on which lookup you are requesting. HOWEVER, please do not send your entire family history in an e-mail. I'm sure that Rikki only needs the names, approx. dates and locations to lookup the names and very lengthy e-mails giving your entire family history do cause problems for some subscribers. That is best left to be sent to others who are researching the same names and lines and in individual e-mails. Thank you, Rikki, for your generous offer. I'm fortunate enough to have access to those volumes in my library, otherwise this would also be a request to you :) Diane [email protected] List Administrator for NYFingerLakes-L, Lerch-L and NYSeneca-L http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyseneca > I have 4 books that might be of interest to the list and I am willing > to do lookups when I have the time to do so. > > The first 3 books are 10,000 Vital Records, one covers Eastern NY from > 1777-1834, one covers Central NY from 1813 to 1850 and the third > covers Western NY from 1809 to 1850. > > Please be aware, these Vital Records were gleaned from Newspaper > Announcements and organized into these books. I have this information from the lady in charge of Green Hills Cemetery in Dryden, NY; "The original mortality list was typed by my predecessor, using the hand written Mortality Records. Her work was the basis for my records which have been updated and corrected over the past ten years as we have surveyed the cemetery and re-checked old records. She had included in her typewritten pages a Cora Givens, date of death 11/3/58, in lot 51, section 2. However, we can find no monument for this Cora Givens, nor can we find her listed in the hand-written Mortality Records. Clearly, the information came from some source, although we do not know from where. We have included her name in the above list and in our official records and will continue to research this". I have checked with the funeral director in Dryden, NY and he has nothing listed for Cora Givens. Lot 51, section 2 is a family plot........Bert & Anna Givens....and their children.....(Bert is my great grand uncle).....I cannot figure out who Cora is........perhaps there might be an obituary in your books.......
