I can't get any help from D.A.R. I have tried. Also she was born in Stafford, Genesee in 1837 any ideas for birth or bapt. records? thank so much, Cathy Obeshaw [email protected] the 0 is a zero
Cathy LeRoy, the village and town of the same name is in Genesee County, NY and Stafford is a place in the Road in the town of Stafford, also in Genesee County. Stafford is the town(ship) directly west of LeRoy and east of Batavia (City and town) which is the county seat and was the land office for land west of the Genesee River in the early days (1800 or so). You might want to write the LeRoy Historical Society, 23 East Main Street, LeRoy,NY 14482 (716-768-7433) This may be an old number since I am using an older book, pub. 1983 - Guide to Historical Resources of Genesee County which was put out by the New YOrk Historical Resources Center, Olin Library, Cornell University which is located in Ithaca, NY. Also the area code may be 585 since there was a change in the last year.
