I just discovered the subject book in a library. It's an index to "Aliens' Depositions" found in 54 volumes at the NYS library in Albany. Does anyone on this list have any experience with these records they can share with us? I won't be able to go there but I'm thinking about paying an Albany University student to go look up an Armitage that was in the index. But I'm not sure how easy or difficult they might be to use.
