I know this is an older topic but here is what I found out on a recient trip to Essex county: according to locals Hammondville was a minning town with in the town of Crown Point. it was located in the north wester section of Crown Point near the border of Scroon. Hammondville, not much more than a tent town was active from around 1885/1890 until the early part of the 1900 but was a ghost town by the 1930's. I hope this answers some questions.
