My ancestor Jeffrey Donahue was born in Tipperary, Ireland Dec 22, 1853. He had, according to his daughter, one brother Thomas. Their father had a second wife Winifred in 1873. Thomas Donahue apparently came to the US before Jeffrey, settling in Mineville, Essex Co, NY. Jeffrey married Harriet Vokes in 1873 and they came to America soon afterward, settling in Mineville/Witherbee, NY. they were in Essex Co by Sept 1874 when their daughter Harriet was born. The 1905 census says Jeffery and Harriet were citizens. Thomas left Essex Co and settled in New York City where he raised a family. Jeffrey worked on the railroad and died in 1914/1918 in NY. He is buried in St. Peter's & Paul's Cemetery, Essex Co, NY. The children of Jeffrey and Harriet Vokes Donahue were Thomas, Harriet, Dennis, William, Mary, Katherine, James, Michael, Jeffrey and Helen.
