    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YRB.2ACE/1407.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: It is the same family. From census information – and I looked at the actual enumerations. In 1840 the only Anson Benham was in Jay, Essex Co.,NY. In 1850 the only Anson Benham was in Jay, Essex Co., NY with a presumed wife named Fanny age 39. In 1860 the only Anson Benham was in Jay, Essex Co., NY with a presumed wife named Fanny age 42. In 1870 I was unable to find any census information about any Benhams. PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF THE WIFE’S NAME FROM FANNY TO LIZZIE. In 1880 the only Anson Benham was in Wilmington, Essex Co., NY with a wife named Lizzie age 50. Until 1880, the relationships to the head of household were not in the census information, that is why “presumed wife” is used. One can usually tell by the differences between the “presumed wife” and ages of other members of the family. I gave you a complete rundown of ALL the census information for BENHAMs in Essex Co. Since there was a change in wives between 1860 and 1870 – it stands to reason that the children are from the Anson/Fanny union since the last child, Almeda was born in 1856. This is the family you were looking for (there are no more). Further, I have no pictures since my main research is in the DEWEY family – I was only interested in tracing down the descendents of Grace BENHAM since her father was Martin DEWEY.
