On HGTV there is a special on of "Homes of the Underground Railroad" I watched this in hopes that there would be something on this vicinity of the country, and there was....I think the name of the family was Robinson (not sure) but the house is in Ferrisburg, VT and is a museum, the Husband was a leading man for this area in secreting away slaves to get them to Canada. The show said something to the effect that he would take in runaways from accross the lake (this being Lake Champlain) and offer them a job to earn money, clean clothes, a bed with clean sheets which was probably the first time they had experienced this and actually had money. I would suspect that the towns people of Crown Point were in contact with this man and his wife as I found on ebay once a postcard of a Murdock house in Ferrisburg. I think Ferri! sburg is in Addison County...........some of the correspondence of this man must be documented somewhere.........this sounds like a good summertime project. About the stone house on the lake, as far as I know the man I talked to said that his grandmother showed him the hiding spot.......I think the house had burned at the time...this was around the 1940's not sure when the house burned. I am in the process of organizing my papers, will let you know if I come across anything! Stephanie
