Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YRB.2ACE/602.2 Message Board Post: I checked my database for Frederick Sherman and was unable to find him but my guess is that he descends from Philip Sherman, one of the early settlers of RI. There were other Sherman immigrants in the colonial era but from what I've seen the RI group was the most prolific. Also, there were many RI natives who went to NY after the Revolution. There is a Sherman genealogy in my local library which I will check for you next time I go. I have quite a few Sherman lines both from Philip as well as one from his distant cousin, John Sherman of Watertown.
