The actual settlement is just about gone except as a rural crossroads; the cemetery contains some very early 19th century stones and in more contemporary times a Baptist Church had been built in front of the cemetery, however this too is gone. This area is located in the western part of the Town of Essex, about 2 miles west of the village of Boquet and Rt. 22. The late town historian, Albert Hayward, collected a great deal on the early Brookfield settlers. Mine were the Sheldons. Brian Tabor - Northampton, MA.
