    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YRB.2ACE/919.3 Message Board Post: Finally found Samuel's parents. It's a bit of a sad tale apparently. In the 1870 Ticonderoga Census I found the following two families living next door to each other. Samuel Dudley age 62 Rebecca age 62 John 32 Henry 25 Next door is: Truman Dudley age 38 farmer Rosemon age 24 born VT Eestella age 7 born NY Sherman age 5 born NY Samuel age 3 born NY Oskar age 6 months born NY Next I jumped up to the 1880 census. We know Samuel was living with his uncle Henry I found Truman Dudley age 49, cousin, living in Crown Point, Essex County in the home of Harry H. Dudley and his family. Then I found Oscar Dudley age 10 and his sister Annie age 7, nephew and niece of Daniel Rafferty and his wife Nancy Rafferty, living in Ticonderoga. So we add another sibling of Samuel in Annie, born after the 1870 census. Next I found Sherman Dudley age 16, living in Crown Point in the household of William and Electa Graham. Next I located Estella Dudley, age 17, living in Crown Point in the household of Abel and Roxy Bailey. Lastly, I found Rose Dudley age 34, living in Ticonderoga in the household of Henry and Ellen Sawyer. So, all the children of Truman and Rose are accounted for and living in Essex County as are Truman and Rose. For some reason the family has been broken up and apparently it's only been since the birth of 7 year old Annie. So there you have it. You've got Samuel's parents, siblings, and grandparents. No way of telling what his mother's maiden name was nor his grandmother Rebecca either. It's too bad there is no 1890 census so we could find out more about them and the 1900 census isn't indexed so it would be a struggle to locate them.
