Surnames: Atkinson, Knox, Combs, Brown Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YRB.2ACE/1318 Message Board Post: My 2nd great grandfather John Atkinson came to Essex County New York in the 1820's with his father Samuel, don't know what his mothers name was. They had many children 2 of which served in the Union Army 118th New York Volunteers (Adirondack Regiment) There names were John Atkinson and Willard Atkinson. I have a photo of these two gentlemen wearing full uniform and holding there rifles. My 3rd great grandfather Samuel Atkinson was in the Schroon township Essex County census of 1840. I believe it is he that is buried under a tombstone listed as Adkisson right next to John and Keziah Atkinson. If anyone knows anything about this family, I would love to hear from you. Thank you
