    1. [NYE] Rork-Rorke-O'Rourke Families 1820-1850 (fwd)
    2. Forwarded.... ---------------------- Forwarded Message: --------------------- From: "Lisa Yates" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Subject: Rork-Rorke-O'Rourke Families 1820-1850 Date: Fri, 24 Aug 2001 08:43:49 -0600 My family emigrated from Ireland after 1818 but before 1823. The Essex County 1820 census shows Edward Rork living in Jay. The 1830 census shows Edward and John in Jay and a William in Chesterfield. The 1850 census shows John in Keene, Joseph and Jane in Jay and a Patrick in Chesterfield. Is there any way for me to obtain more details on these censuses? I would like to know how many there were in the households for Edward in 1820, and for Edward, John, and William in 1830. I believe that William may have been my gggg grandfather but am unable to tell. My ggg grandfather's name was Joseph Rork, born 1818 in Ireland. However, he had at least 2 brothers born in Essex County, William in October of 1823, and Robert Rufus in approximately 1825. Their father may have been William and their mother's name was Isabella. WE have no record of their father after Essex County. Isabella shows up with Edward Rork in Hanover, Chautauqa County in 1850, then with Robert in Steuben county, NY in 1860, and then moved to Georgia with her son William, where she died in 1865 and is buried there. I have been unable to find out where the family sailed from in Ireland or where they landed. Was Essex County a site where immigrants landed from Ireland? My section of the Rork's ended up in Allegany County, NY around 1835. Any info would be appreciated. Lisa Yates [email protected]
