Surnames: Oakley, Goldsmith Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YRB.2ACE/895 Message Board Post: Catharine (aka Catherine) OAKLEY was born 15 (or 5) Jan 1811 in Mineville, NY, at least as stated on her son's death certificate. I seek her parents. On 14 Dec 1826, Catharine married Ovid GOLDSMITH in Catskill, Greene Co., New York. This couple has been found in various census records around New York including: Valatie, Stockport and Kinderhook in Columbia County. All of the census records say her parents were born in New York, but no city is given. They had 13 children. After her husband's death in 1865, Catharine ended up in Chicopee, Mass. (1880) and finally in the Cumberland and Berkeley area of Rhode Island, where she died at the age of 90 in 1901. Supposedly she was "a true daughter of the Revolution", but I have found nothing to help connect her to a specific soldier. Other Oakley researchers have come up empty handed as well. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
