Looking for Eleanor (Ella) Dorothy Dickinson/Dickenson/Dickerson's parents... WHAT I KNOW: based on death certificate and census info (1880 and on) is that she was born 11/26/1865 in one of three places - (1)Schroon Lake, Essex County, NY, (2), Yonkers, Westchester County, NY, or (3) Benson/Castleton/Rutland, Rutland County, VT. I have found Henry Wm./Amanda Dickerson in the 1870 VT Census listing Ella as a daughter at about the right age. Having posted to mailing lists and sites, others have given me Amanda's maiden name - Fassett, and the fact that these people had 11 children and their names and where they are buried. All wonderful, but I don't know for sure this is MY Ella. I have found Henry/Amanda (Mandy) Dickenson in the 1860 NY Census in Schroon Lake; of course, no Ella- too early. They are listed in the 1850 VT Census living separately in rooming houses. NY doesn't have birth records that early. IF she was Episcopalian, the Yonkers churches/library do not have record of her. The library actually said they lost the microfilm that contained her year. Yonkers officials have no record of birth. Rutland County has not record of her birth. Where else do I look for her early years? Her marriage (2nd) license in 1894 Chicago gives no parent/birth info. Her death certificate in 1939 W Va. gives no parent info or specific birth info. She was supposed to have been married (prior to 1894) to a Mr. Fuller who died at sea. I do not know where they married; how she got to Chicago; where he died. That marriage license might give info.
Dear Joyce, Thank you so much for the Old Post Cemetary photo's. I was able to print out my family, which is Jonas and Sarah Gibbs. Camille Wamsganz St. Charles, Missouri

Forwarded...Unc ----- Original Message ----- From: <Jaynemari@aol.com> To: <NYEssex-L-request@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, August 09, 2004 11:24 AM Subject: Copy of newspaperfrom 1924 > I have contacted (via email) the local newspaper in essex County hoping to get a copy of an issue from 1924. This will be given as a gift to someone in celebration of their birthday. I have not received any kind of response and time is running short. Can someone advise whether I can get a copy, or whom I can contact to get this info? Is the newspaper kept on microfilm and can I get a copy of "at least" the front page? Thank you in advance >
All I know about Winthroup Cosby is that he resided in or near the village of Essex. As for the Essex Town Records: Town Historian Shirley LaForest and I discussed the subject and agree that it should be done. I offered to scan the complete records and link them to my Essex-Willsborough database but as yet have not gotten approval from the Town Board. For those interested in genealogy: The records are not really of much use unless you are interested in elected officers or the Pathmaster's [Assessors] Reports. George
