If not I can send you some info. Also there is a obit. available thru kellyja@oplin.org . The obit is from the Bryon Press dated 12/20 1893 also for his son from 5/19/1916 on page 1 column 4. The ID# for Philander that died in 1893 is # 32812. Accorking to the 1850 and 1880 census Philander was born in N.Y. not VT. in fact I doubt if there is a Crown Point VT. I can be reached at m2wyatt@sbcglobal.net. Jack

I'd actually like to take you up on it, if you wouldn't mind. I live in Southern California so I haven't had the opportunity to do some "real" digging, so to speak. I'm having a tough time finding the father of "Philander W. Wilson". Philander was born on 1 Jun 1810 in Crown Point, Essex County, New York ..... but I'm beginning to think my father got it wrong, and it should be Essex County, Vermont???? He died 11 Dec 1893 in Williams County, Ohio. He was married to Charlotte E. Hopkins. Her Hopkins were primarily from Vermont, but prior to that they were establishing Hartford, Connecticut. Anyway, I contacted the Williams County Court house and they said that they didn't have any death records for a Philander Wilson (Willson) and that death records weren't really required until later. So, if perchance you run into old "Philander Wilson" while your researching, I'd appreciate it if you'd tell him I'm looking for him and his family. =) Thanks so much for your kindness. They were the Sumners and the Marshalls. What is it that you are looking for? Do you live near Williams County? I've been to the court house and the Genealogical Society in Byron, both are very easy to work with. The records there are so much better than in Essex County. I'm going to Salt Lake in 2 weeks and since I'll be going thru some Essex County material If there is something in particular that you are seeking, maybe I can find it.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YRB.2ACE/1353 Message Board Post: There is a well-circulated list of these children, which usually reads as follows: Edward (no dates) Moses Abraham (1838 - 1935) Domitille (Matilda) (b. bef 1842) Thomas (b. bef. 1843) Charles Edward (bef. 1844 - abt. 1879) Ellen (bef. 1845) Robert (bef. 1848) Louis (1852 - 1934) Joseph (1854 - 1868) Frank Thomas (1856 - 1927) Timothy (1859 - 1867) Peter Rhyneldo (1860 - 1912) I do not know where this list came from, but I would like to offer a somewhat different list, based on my ongoing research into various records, especially those for Clinton County, NY. Charles (1835 - 1871) (probably born in Canada) Matilda (b. abt. 1837) (possibly born in Canada, probably Alburg VT) Moses (abt. 1839 - 1935) (probably born in Alburg VT) Joseph (b. abt. 1841) (1850 census) (all other children born in Chesterfield NY) John (b. abt. 1843) (1850 census) Adelia (b. abt. 1845) (1850 census) Julia (b. abt. 1847) (1850 census) Maria (b. abt. 1849) (1850 census) Ellen F (1847 - 1913) (1860 census - but not 1850!) Joseph (b. abt. 1852) (1860 census, possibly with wrong age - may be same Joseph as above) Louis (1853 - 1936) Francis (Frank) Thomas (1856 - 1927) Treffle (1858 - 1865) Joseph (b. 1858) (same as Treffle?) Peter (1860 - 1912) Charles married Anastasie (Eliza) Diguette or Duquette sometime before 1856. Matilda married David Poulin 1855. Moses married Emilie (Amelia) Sawyer (Seguin) 1868. Ellen married Frank Ashley about 1869. Louis married Margaret Sawyer (Seguin) (sister to Amelia) about 1879. Frank married Edwige Mary Laramie in 1882. Peter married Sophia Charlton about 1887. Charles is sometimes listed as the Bombard who stayed south after the Civil War, married Olivia Davis, and lived in DeSoto LA. Olivia Davis was born in Alabama, and she did marry a Bombard and live in DeSoto, and he died before 1880, but it wasn't this Charles. The following people may be related, but I have found no clear evidence of what the relationship may be: There is an Edward Bombard, b. abt 1844, living in Keeseville in 1860, and probably the same Edward enlisting in the Civil War three years later, in Chesterfield. He was mustered out in 1865 in Talladega AL. There's no further record of him. Thomas Bumbard, b. abt. 1842, also enlisted in the Civil War in Chesterfield, at the same time as Edward. John LaBombard, b. abt. 1843, enlisted in Plattsburgh. There are gravestone inscriptions for Timothy B Bombard (1859-1867) and Joseph E Bombard (1854-1868), but it is not clear which Bombard family they belonged to. I have found no record of a Robert Bombard. I am still working on this information, and trying to find more. I can offer more specific details about some of this. If anyone can offer further enlightenment, please do!
Fred: Below is copied from the site that you quoted earlier. Request Copies of Military Personnel Records Attention: There is a rumor circulating among veteran service organizations that Official Military Personnel Files (OMPFs) at the National Personnel Records Center will be digitized and then destroyed. This rumor is NOT TRUE. Neither the Department of Defense (DoD) nor the National Personnel Records Center intend to destroy any OMPFs stored at the Center. The purpose of any electronic scanning would be to reduce the handling of fragile records during the reference process or to reduce the time necessary to locate and answer an OMPF inquiry. The National Archives and Records Administration preserves and protects OMPFs because they are permanently valuable records that document the essential evidence of military service for the veterans of our nation. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Unclefred" <unclefred@att.net> To: <NYESSEX-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, September 16, 2004 9:08 PM Subject: [NYE] Fw: Military Automating - destroy hard copies UNLESS > > > Sent: Thursday, September 16, 2004 7:56 PM > >> Original message - - >> > >> >The National Personnel Record Center that is responsible for > maintaining >> >archives of our military records is automating their storage and >> >management of our military records. This Silas 1822 is the son of Silas Childs 1793. He was in Essex in 1820, with I think brother Ichobod. But they must have had family in Essex for the two men to be there I would think back then. Silas 1793 was from Saratoga, went to Essex 1820, somewhere in Pa 1830/40 then Orleans 1850. His son Silas went on to Wis. So I am looking at all four places up here. Essex, Saratoga, Pa-somewhere, Orleans. I don't feel lucky, they didn't stay anywhere long. One census has Silas Jr born in Essex the other Orleans But you know census records!!!!! Thanks for looking I really appreciate this. It was really nice to here so soon. I feel so stuck, ya know? But will still keep plugging away. Thank you,,,Jaimee-Wis.
