That was very kind of you. I hate to say this but, I'm not surprised he didn't show up, he's one very illusive guy. =) I'm also sorry to hear about your family. If I ever see anything of interest while I'm researching I'll let you know. Oh by the way, I don't know if it would be of any help to you, but I just found a file that helped me a bit on GenCircles.com under "Stephan Hopkins of Connecticut". It even had good old Philander Jr. listed, no parents, but he was there. =) Have a great day and thanks again so very much! Cindi - CBL2000@aol.com

Please, use more detail and less abreviation in email, I'm still sensitive to written communications as an expression of who we are (and just because it electronic I'm too old to bend to believe everthing about language should be changed for expediency). Unfourtuntately Fred is the only one who has taken the time and effort to transcribe that book and post it. Since Elizabeth Jenks (Squires) is not under Jenks, it maybe that either she is not there, or the tombstone was not transcribed. I'm under the general impression that perhaps only 50% of those buried there are recorded. A lot of the tombstones are lost, and deterioration continues. Paul Stapley's book is probably the best bet for Squires. As posted earlier it is at the Schroon Library. ------------------------------------ Re: Jenks Author: Katherine Noyes Date: 5 Nov 2004 Thank u for the info. My comment; Edmund, James Jr, and Judd were the children of James Sr. "Baker Street Cemetery," notebook of Paul Stapley, late town historian for Schroon Lake, Essex Co, NY is located at the Schroon Lake Public Library, P.O. Box 398, Schroon Lake, NY 12870. According to the librarian, this notebook was redone by Mr. Stapley about 1992. "Baker Street Cemetery" is abandoned and the last burials there were in the 1900s. It is presently located about a mile south of Schroon Lake, on the west side of Route 9, just south of Charlie Hill Rd. also on line at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyessex/BAKERSTREET.htm Baker St. Cemetery, Schroon, Essex Co, NY, "Jenks, Edmond; Wife - Sally Richardson. b. 1775, d. 3-11-1844, War 1812 Veteran." Baker St. Cemetery, Schroon, Essex Co, NY, Jenks, Loren; Wife - Lydia Squires, Son of Edmond and Sally Richardson Jenks. b. 1800, d. 10-25-1873, age 73." Lydia Squires may be the sister of William, who you say married Elizabeth. Baker St. Cemetery, Schroon, Essex Co, NY, "Jenks, Norman; Wife - Avis Luther Phelps, Son of Edmund and Sally Richardson Jenks. b. 1814, d. 8-1-1891, age 77." I don't have anything futher on descendants, but some of this may help point you in the right direction. I have not found any marriage records in the area, so that will probably require the use of death certificates to establish. ---------------------------------------------- Re: Jenks Author: Katherine Noyes Date: 5 Nov 2004 Thank you for the prompt reply.
