Hi - Does anyone know how to request a burial record for people interred in Jay Central Cemetery? On another note, after waiting 14 months for a death cert from NY, I emailed the Vital Records office and nicely complained, requesting a refund if they weren't going to send me anything. I got an email back the next day saying they had found my request (a miracle!) and would mail out the information today. So.. if you've been waiting a long time, you might want to send an email. Robin

They have them and I have seen them. I did get copies of the rolls and who the members were at certain times. There is a little information on Death records that some one penciled in but other than that, there is no info on birth, marriage or death dates. If I am not mistaken, they may be thinking of sending the originals to the University of Rochester. Let me know what you are looking for.
I just added histories for the towns of Jay and Lewis to my web site. These make good reading as well as telling some about who diferant people in the towns were. This makes 68 town histories for New York that I have online, other towns online for Essex County are Keene, North Elba, North Hudson, St. Armond and Wilmington. More from Essex County will be added later. http://www.rays-place.com Cheers Ray Brown

In Witness wherof I have hereto subscribed my name and affixed my seal thethirteenth day of February in the year of one thousand eight hundred and ninety- one. Benjamin L. Stiles L.S. Comments: B.L.Stiles more than one will, newer one, as indicated above was where nephew Solon (or Solou) was demoted to heir of his brother. The date is given above for the change. No indication of a wife or children of Stiles'own so this would only be of genealogical interest to the Chases, Taylors Coreys and Wolcotts, as mentioned. There is no mention of marriages for his nieces Lillian Stiles and Jennie Stiles,(it appears the)daughters of his brother Pollus however they still might have married. There is no way of identifying their married names here. above.

Some of my ancestors are buried in Evergreen Cemetery. Clicking on cemeteries on the Essex County pg. Evergreen is listed in Chesterfield. I called the town clerk of Chesterfield and she said it was a nonworking cemetery that had no office. I was planning on going to the cemetery in the spring. Does anybody have a street address for the cemetery so I could print out a mapquest map of how I can get from Syracuse, N.Y. directly there? I know a relative of mine has been there and our ancestors were too poor to afford headstones. I need to contact somebody who has the cemetery records to find out where my relatives are so I don't wander around aimlessly looking for their graves. Also I found another member of the family recently and wonder if he too is buried with his family in that cemetery. The only way I would know that is if I could have somebody look at the cemetery records for my family's burials there. I know I have seen similar queries and usually everybody is directed to write to the Adirondack Historical Society as they I believe have most if not all the cemetery records. I would appreciate any feedback in this matter. Thanks, Renné Blocker
