Hi Listers, I've added new Query boards to the Essex County Genweb page, the problem I'm trying to solve is Rootsweb/Ancestry's changing of the old Query boards, which has resulted in copyright and other questions... Give the new Query system a try, and let me know what you think.. The year would be 1852. My question is : where would I write to obtain a copy of his birth cert., if I do not know the exact place or date of birth? Would it be Elizabethtown, or the town itself? A search would have to be done, as I am not certain of either its existence or location. Thanks in advance for any help. Hi Art, My name is Nancy Brown and I am researching my ancestors, the Tanguays.Eva Tanguay was mentioned by my mother and her siblings and she supposedly visited them when my mother was a young girl. We do have a paper clipping mentioning that fact from our local newspaper. I am not sure just how they were related but I was very interested in your mentioning that you have her father's genealogy. I would appreciate any information you would be willing to share and hopefully this might provide the link I have been looking for. Thanking you in advance for your assistance.

Hi Listers, the Essex County Genweb used to maintain queries before I took over, at that time, Rootsweb offered to maintain those query lists for us, I agreed, and moved to the new system, maintaining the old queries on the Essex web page. Now that Ancestry has taken over Rootsweb, they have merged our query boards into a new query system. That system has gotten off to a rocky start, at present, I have not tried to re-connect to it. For the time being, I suggest you use this email list to ask and answer all Essex related questions.. Notes from tombstones which I made during a recent trip to NY. Two of these SLATER names (marked with **) fit with my SLATER kin, but most are later than any info I have. If anyone can help me link these SLATERs to their ancestors, and therefore my kin as well, I would greatly appreciate it. Hello, I'm looking for TRUMBULLs, SLATERs and CARPENTERs in Jay and Upper Jay. George Washington SLATER was supposedly born in Jay (at least Essex Co.) in 1809 or 1810 to Capt. Joseph SLATER and Hannah SPAULDING. By 1836 he moved to VT, later to unknown place in NY and by 1850 was in WI where he died. Looking to verify his date and place of birth. Capt. Joseph SLATER's cousin (maternal uncle's) was Cyrus CARPENTER, who married Hannah JENNEY in Jay in abt. 1821. The SLATERs and the CARPENTERs were neighbors in Guilford, VT before moving to Jay. Wondering how to explain how they both picked up and moved from VT to Jay. What drew folks to Essex Co. in the early 1800s? George Washington SLATER married Harriet TRUMBULL in about January, 1832. I don't know much about Harriet, but I know TRUMBULLs lived in Jay. I'm hoping to figure out how she is related to the Jay TRUMBULLs. Harriet died before 1840 and had either two or three children: Edgar SLATER, Egbert SLATER and poss. Almeda Esther SLATER. George Washington SLATERs brother, Joseph SLATER (1807-1857) m. Marcia TRUMBULL. Wondering if Harriet and Marcia were sisters? Would appreciate any info on the above. Marie in Ohio
If anyone happens to have a hard copy or access to the 1860 Crown Point census, could you please check for a HIRAM STRONG? I'm interested in his age and wife's and children's names, if any, and their ages. Thanks!
