Hi listers, I've updated the Schroon Lake vital records pages on the Essex Genweb page, these records were contributed by Kelly Townsend, a wonderful work! These are index's, and I have the original, with more info.. Also, since I'm from the southern part of the county (originally), I could use folks from the northern, and western parts to help contribute records to give us a more balanced database.......Any volunteers? Murray info Looking for any information on or descendants of a MURRY (MURRAY?) and WRIGHT marriage. Mr. Murrays first name yet unknown was born in Ticonderoga, date unknown. He married Miss Wright first name not known as yet and at some point they moved to Jackson, Michigan where my great grandmother, Harriett Murray was born in 1840. Other children were: Lucy, Ann, Betty & Andrew. Anything sound familiar??
Judging by the numbers themselves, I'd guess they're from a census, and indicate the page on which the name is found. New York also did censuses in the years ending with five, so the page numbers could be from a New York or a US census. Elizabethtown County Clerk's office has all the naturalization certificates, filed alphabetically. If you're very lucky, you can also find the Declaration of Intent to Naturalize form on file, but most of them have been lost.
Can someone e-mail me directions to the cemetery. I was told that it was past the church, but I wasn't able to locate it during the brief time I took to drive through Keeseville. Thanks in advance. Cheryl
To date I have been unable to find my family on any info on this site. I am looking for the parents and siblings of Joseph ROrk. He was born in Ireland in 1818 but has at least two brothers who were born in Essex County. They are William and Robert, 1823 and 1825. I am looking for their parents and other siblings. I have a sheet that lists an Edward Rork from Jay p 296 , a John ROrk from Jay p 291, and a William Rork from Chesterfield p 244. I have no idea what these pages are from as this sheet was given to me. It is page 571 of some list and runs from the name Butler to Rose. It lists all NY counties that these people are from. Would this be naturalization records? How would I find out if they had naturalization recrods from Essex County?
I believe Margaret, wife of Moses, is Marguerite Hebert. See parish records of St John the Baptiste, Keesville, NY, at the baptism of their daughter Margarita, on 19 June 1866. This daughter is listed in the 1880 census as Margaret, 15 yrs. My maternal grandmother was Josephine Surprise, daughter of Frederick and Louise White (Desrosiers-Lafreniere, Town of Moriah, Essex Co NY. I am researching all lines of Surprenant-Surprise-Supry, White-Lafreniere and Branconnier. Would be pleased to hear from anyone with simmilar interest.
To date I have been unable to find my family in any info from Essex County. I am looking for Joseph Rork who was born in Ireland in 1818 but has at least two brothers born in Otsego County. I have an Edward Rork listed as from Jay, p 296 and a John from Jay, p 291, and a William from Chesterfield p. 244. I have no idea what these pages are from. Would they be naturalization records?
FYI Another big settlement of Tipperary people, some who started out in Keeseville, in the Fair Haven,Castleton Poultney Vermont area at the southern end of Lake Champlain. There were Kirbys in this community. Regards, Peter Patten,Fair Haven,Vermont
