    3. Maybe the searcher should try the Wisconsin boards for info from living tribal members on existing records. Lake Horicon is the name James Fennimore Cooper gave Lake George in his novel, The Last of the Mohicans. Horicon is a tribe of the larger group, or "Nation" Mohican who, before the arrival of Henry Hudson and small-pox, populated Lake Champlain down to Manhattan, depending on the season. They were forced "west"-at the time Wisconsin in the early 1800's (and later in that century some even further west), Decendents still reside in Wisconsin. There is a reservation in east-central Wisconsin. Their influence is found in NY and Wisconsin. Hope this helps a bit Amy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Quinn" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, August 06, 2001 9:23 PM Subject: Re: [NYE] Re: Native Americans in Adirondacks > I thought HORICON was from Wisconsin, near Fondulac???? 1. [NYE] Marriage certificate information, Ticonderoga
    2. Levi
    3. My Great Grandparents were married Nov 7, 1910 in Ticonderoga. If I write to the Town Clerk of Ticonderoga would he have access to a copy of the marriage certificate, or would this date be one for the State of NY vital records? Is there a fee I should enclose? I have the addresses, I am just wondering about proper protocol. Thank you Amy

    1. [NYE] 1870 census
    2. Hello, Does anyone have the 1870 Willsboro, Essex County, NY census? If so, could you please check the for the Sheldon family. My g.g.grandfather George Lovett was in the Troy Orphan Asylum from 1863-1865 until he was indentured out to a George Sheldon of Willsboro, NY. I am very curious to see if my George Lovett's names appears with the Sheldon family, and if it does, how is he identified? Is he listed as indentured, border, hand? Thanks so much, Jackie Gareau, Benway/Benoit, Lovett, Crossett, Pratt, Sargeant.

    1. [NYE] Re: SULLIVAN, Nicholas of Westport, 1922
    2. We recently found a paper by my mother with the names Nicholas Sullivan & Ellen Murphy, Cornelius Murphy & Mary Vaugh, and Thomas & Celia Flaherty, we are trying to find information on our grandfather William Nelson Sullivan, his brother Nicholas and their father George Sullivan who married Sylvia Laroe. I've found Sylvia with her parents on a census however I have been unable to find the others. Do you know of a connection, it is the only reason I can come up with as to why Mom wrote those names down. Thank-you Dianne Eno

    1. [NYE] Bloomingdale-Is There Another One?
    2. I was trying to obtain some history about the village or hamlet of Bloomingdale, New York and I received a mail note from an individual that has a book titled "The New York of Yesterday Bloomingdale" The author appeared to be something like Hopper Striker Mott (the name was very difficult to make out. This is my best guess) Here is some information on the book. It is 597 pages. It has fold out maps, Illustrations of buildings, portraits of citizens with facsimile signatures, and lots more. There does not appear to be any sort of business listings. A picture of a map, which again, was very difficult to make out, shows the Hudson River on one side of a land mass and the East River on the other side indicating that this "Bloomingdale" may have been located somewhere around Manhattan - New York City? The book was published by Putnams 1908 and is limited to 500 copies. (stated) It starts with appx 1805 at the Church of Harensville. Ch 1 discusses Bloomingdale. Ch 2 Bloomingdale Militant Ch 3 Harensville Ch 4 The First Consistory Ch 5 The Church in Harensville 1805-1855 Ch 6 The Church in Harensville 1855-1906 Ch 7 Among Old-Time Families Ch 8 Reminiscences Ch 9 Vital Statistice Marriages- w\index, Baptisims w\index. Has anybody heard of this book? It might help someone else in their search for Bloomingdale History. Thanks. Regards, Cornelius McKenna

    1. [NYE] Birth Records of Crown Point
    2. You may also want to call the town clerk's office. Linda Woods is our Town Clerk, and she has looked up info. for me before, or she will let people look up there own, if they stop by. Her phone number is (518)597-3235, she's ususally only in from 9-12. But she is terrific to deal with. Good luck. Also Crown Point only has records from 1880 up, as they had a fire before that and it destroyed everything.
