I have many St Michel but not all of them. Many of my St Michel lived in the Beauharnois area, just across the border, and some left the area in the 1800s and 1850s. Some seems to have moved a lot ! I found some in the western provinces in Canada and others in the US (mostly Minnesota for now), but I know that some went in the state of New York. Do you have any info about parents of your AglaƩ St Michel ? Lucie

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YRB.2ACE/919.3 Message Board Post: Finally found Samuel's parents. It's a bit of a sad tale apparently. In the 1870 Ticonderoga Census I found the following two families living next door to each other. Samuel Dudley age 62 Rebecca age 62 John 32 Henry 25 Next door is: Truman Dudley age 38 farmer Rosemon age 24 born VT Eestella age 7 born NY Sherman age 5 born NY Samuel age 3 born NY Oskar age 6 months born NY Next I jumped up to the 1880 census. We know Samuel was living with his uncle Henry I found Truman Dudley age 49, cousin, living in Crown Point, Essex County in the home of Harry H. Dudley and his family. Then I found Oscar Dudley age 10 and his sister Annie age 7, nephew and niece of Daniel Rafferty and his wife Nancy Rafferty, living in Ticonderoga. So we add another sibling of Samuel in Annie, born after the 1870 census. Next I found Sherman Dudley age 16, living in Crown Point in the household of William and Electa Graham. Next I located Estella Dudley, age 17, living in Crown Point in the household of Abel and Roxy Bailey. Lastly, I found Rose Dudley age 34, living in Ticonderoga in the household of Henry and Ellen Sawyer. So, all the children of Truman and Rose are accounted for and living in Essex County as are Truman and Rose. For some reason the family has been broken up and apparently it's only been since the birth of 7 year old Annie. So there you have it. You've got Samuel's parents, siblings, and grandparents. No way of telling what his mother's maiden name was nor his grandmother Rebecca either. It's too bad there is no 1890 census so we could find out more about them and the 1900 census isn't indexed so it would be a struggle to locate them.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YRB.2ACE/919.2 Message Board Post: Bob, I've got Samuel's parents narrowed down, and I've got his grandparents. I've still got some poking around to do to see if I can nail down his parents. In the 1880 census, in Ticonderoga page 334 Henry Dudley age 35 born NY Helen E. Dudley, wife age 39, born VT Rebecca Dudley mother, age 72, born VT Samuel Dudley, nephew, age 13, born NY Moving to the 1860 census, Ticonderoga page 153 Samuel Dudley age 53, born MA Rebecca age 52, born VT Truman, age 27, born NY John age 24, born NY Henry age 16, born NY Moving to the 1850 census Ticonderoga page 315 Samuel Dudley age 40 Rebecca age 40 Ervin age 20 Truman age 18 John age 15 Mary age 12? Alfred age 10 Henry age 6 So, Samuel and Rebecca are his grandparents and Henry is his uncle. That leaves Ervin, Truman, John, and Alfred as his possible fathers. There was no other Samuel Dudley in Essex County born anywhere close to 1867/1868, so I'm sure this is the one. I'll scope this out some more and let you know what I find.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YRB.2ACE/921 Message Board Post: Note to Susan Malone - tried to email to you but was returned. This is great news!! Thanks for writing. My mother remembers RoseAnna who was her grandmother. She died the week my parents got married in 1951. I never met any of my grandmother's siblings except for Cecile, but I am sure that my mother has. My grandmother Bertha Soucy Clermont died at age 92 in 1995. I knew her very well and loved her very much. She had 9 children - 7 still living, 38 grandchildren, many great grandchildren also. She lived her entire life in Lowell MA. I would be thrilled to have any information you might have on the Marcottes and Soucys. I have no idea what happened to the lady who had written that she had Napoleon's obituary - she never replied to my email. The more I research the more I discover many cousins. Great to know you. Where do you live? I was born in Lowell MA, but now live in NH. Jeannine Matte Stergios
