Surnames: Sawyer - Dudley Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YRB.2ACE/919.2.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Chauncey Sawyer is the son of Ephraim Sawyer and Polly Parks. They came from VT to NY and are in the tax list for 1818 in Essex Co. There is a Jane ag 21 in Chauncey's home in 1850 but I can not prove that is our Jennie although Chauncey later names a daughter Jennie M. IT appears the Mother is dead and the father remarries and is found in WI with the rest of the family. It is surprising what one can piece together from all the info shared. Have you had contact with a Mike Dudley in your searches? It sounds as though he has much information on the Dudley's. I would be interested in his sources. I have contacted several others of this Sawyer line. Maybe we can piece some more together by sharing more information. [email protected]

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YRB.2ACE/919.2.1.1 Message Board Post: Gail, Whew! That's hard to follow. So, you're saying that Harry Dudley's father Hiram and Roba's mother Lucena were siblings. That makes Harry and Roba first cousins. Truman is the son of Samuel who was also a sibling of Hiram and Lucena, so he is 1st cousin to both Harry and Roba. So it appears the Dudleys and Sawyers are certainly connected. Where does your Jennie Sawyer born 1828 fit in? Have you seen her on any census? It looks like the Dudleys came from NH. Where where the Sawyers from? Regards, Bill St. George

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YRB.2ACE/919.2.1 Message Board Post: I find your posting most interesting. I have been researching the Sawyer family in Essex Co. I still have not proved the connection to our Jennie Sawyer b 1828. From your information I can add. You list Truman as a cousin, in the home of Harry H Dudley. Harry was married to Roba/Roby Sawyer daughter of Chauncey Parks Sawyer with his first wife Lucena Dudley. According to information I received from Kathy Beals author of " Early Families of Unity, NH" from information she received from Mike Dudley after she published her book: James and Roxanne Nichols Dudley had eleven children. Alpheus, Hiram, Malinda, Ralph, Samuel. Sarah, Lucena, Ezra, Margaret, Mary H, and John. IN the 1880 census Hiram, 'father' is also in Harry's household. So I appears Roba's mother, Lucena , Hiram and Samual were siblings. Estella Dudley listed in Abel and Roxy Bailey home in 1880. Abel appears to be the next door neighbor to Chauncey P Sawyer in 1850. Chauncey's sister Mary married a Bailey and moved to WI. Rose Dudley in the household of Henry P and Ellen Sawyer in Ti. Henry P is the son of Chauncey P Sawyer and Martha Bigelow. Chauncey and Martha and their other son John are also in this household. Chauncey's first wife Lucena and their daughters Mercy/ Mary and Estella and Chauncey's Mother Polly are listed as buried in the Ironville cemetery in Crown Point. In Ingalls Cemetery in Ti are listed: Chauncey and Martha, His daughter Jennie and Albert J Gibbs, Henry P and Ellen Sawyer, and for the Dudley's: Ezra & wife Ella Huestis, John & wife Jane, Mary J Dudley and husband William Bradley, Sarah Dudley wife of Hibbard Ingalls and Alpheus. Also Nancy Rafferty. This is info from others, census and cemetery records. It is a starting point. However I can not document all of it. I have tried to contact Mike Dudley but the emails are returned. To me it appears the Dudleys and Sawyers are will connected. How does this fit in with what you have?
