The Grand Opening Dedication Ceremonies for Schoolhouse #8 History Center on July 10 begin at 1 p.m. The History Center is located at 2101 School Street in North Collins, directly across the parking lot from North Collins Public Library. In the Schoolhouse #8 History Center are 1909 and c. 1940 maps showing families in each one-room school district. There is also a list of the voters in each district at the closing of the one-room schools c. 1950. Many of these surnames go back to the 1800s. The schoolhouse is restored and furnished to c. 1900 appearance, also with display cabinets with turn-of-the-century textbooks and children’s classics as well as items the children of the early 1900s would have been familiar with either at school or at home.
