While this has no connection with Erie County, Battle Creek, Michigan apparently gave all their photos from about 1939 to Willard Library, which has made them available online. It was great to reconstruct my old neighborhood from the images!!! Also, I made an album for my Mother of the various places she had lived in town - with recent photos of those that are still standing. Perhaps those who are aware of such photos in their local assessors office could start encouraging them to donate them to a library..... I was fortunate in another state to have contact with the assessor who had KEPT the old files and had images of the homes from the WPA era where photogs were sent out to photograph each PIN for the files and from thence images were layered on top for a complete file record of changes... it was a rather nic present/gift to see what once was and to have photocopies of exactly what my family lived in.... so, if you have had such an experience in NY ERIE, please let the others know the particulars...
