As far as I know, such a list does not exist. The Adjutant General's Reports from circa 1906 list all the men from NY State who served in the Civil War, in order by regiment. In the 1990s, these 60-some volumes were indexed by surname, so you can finally look up a soldier by name and see what unit he was in. I don't think the AG's reports give the hometown of enlistees--I'll have to doublecheck. There are lists of what CW units were organized in what cities, but these are an unreliable indicator or a soldier's hometown. Many traveled to enlist somewhere other than home. For example, many Canadians crossed the border to enlist in Buffalo.
