Hi everyone, Great day! I've been looking in the Evangola, Eden, ya know, that area, for Murrays, Hammonds, and Odells. I've got Onesiphorus(Syphorus, Siphorus, Cephus, Ceferus, amongst other spellings I've found) Hammond in Eden. I've got all his children, all his wives, even that he was on the school board which stood on Bley right near the railroad tracks(schoolhouse still there, now a home). Lived 1795 to 1871. His marriages and Children are: Marriage 1: Betsy Scott. Children: King S. Hammond and Lydia(married Joel Valentine) Marriage 2: Lovina Tucker Children: Leroy(died infant), Mary Letizia(married Charles Cockle or Cockler), Lodosha/Laduski(married Charels Coon), Candace Marriah/Candice Merrier(married 1. William Murray 2. Spencer Odell) Marriage 3: Ann Eliza Page(Nee Tucker, Lovina's sister) No children. Siphorus died 22 months after marriage. What I can't find is two a few things. I've been to the Eden Historian and got very little in her records. She thinks Hammond Rd. MIGHT have been named for him, but she is not sure. I can't find where he is buried. There is supposed to quite a monument. But I can't find him in any online Eden cemetery lists. The other thing I can't find relates to his daughter, Candace Mariah Hammond my great great grandmother. She was first married to William Murray, of Buffalo, born in Scotland. Marriage date is unknown, but their son, Victor Henry was born in 1867. In 1860 she is living with Mom and Dad(listed as Daniel and Julia????) and sister Loduski in Eden. In 1870 Candace is living with her father(mom has died) and Victor in Eden. 1880 Candace is now remarried to Spencer Odell, and now has a daughter Daisey and is living in Collins. Daisey married Will Rogers. (not THEE Will Rogers, I don't think.) Thing is, I can't find either Candace Mariah or Spencer Odell after 1880. I can't find a Daisey Rogers that fits my Daisey Rogers. There was also supposed to be Three brothers Victor Henry Murray, Tom, Duke, and Edward. I don't know if they were Murray's or Odells, but no matter because I can't find any that fit my family anyway. One or all of these boys were supposed to become priests and go to Texas(which is odd because we are not Catholic and never were throughout history, I think the Hammonds were quakers or "quaker-ish") All of these boys were supposed to have been born in Eden also. But I can find no trace of them. William Murray is buried "at the cemetery at Shirley and 62 in N. Collins," from my grandmother's memory. But there are Three cemteries there, and only one is small enough to look through. The others have so many head stones that are unreadable..... Victor also was supposed to have been married to a Lufkin, a relation to the Lufkin Rule family, and married another time from which he had a daughter Lillian, but I can't find that either. These two marriages were before he married my great grandmother. I was hoping that anyone who is researching this area, if they ever come across anything that might fit, or if they themselves have this family in their line, if they could drop me a line? Thanks, Amy Lathrop
