one of my relatives was in prison in 1930 . the 1930 census record just says she was a prisoner and the town was Alden 1. what prison would that be 2. how would one go about looking up to see what the person was in prison for (though we do have a hunch) chuck
I bet the census says she was an "inmate" and not a "prisoner." Today we would use the word "patient." She was probably living at the Erie County Home and Infirmary in Alden. --- CHARLES SIMONS <chuck_simons@msn.com> wrote: > one of my relatives was in prison in 1930 . the 1930 census > record just says she was a prisoner and the town was Alden > > 1. what prison would that be > > 2. how would one go about looking up to see what the person > was in prison for (though we do have a hunch) > > chuck > > > ==== NYERIE Mailing List ==== > List Administrator: Dick Rose <dtrose@cox.net> > My Genealogy: http://members.cox.net/dtrose/ > Archived Messages at: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ > > ============================== > Search Family and Local Histories for stories about your > family and the > areas they lived.
