Peter Smith (my gg-grandfather) b. 1832 in Belgium (according to the 1860 census Ward 5 Buffalo), wife was Harriet Dewerele or Dewerle. Children in 1860 were Charles b. 1858 in Canada & Ellen b. 1860 in NY. I'm try to determine if the Francis Smith b. 1835 in Belgium also in Ward 5, and the Nicholas Smith b. 1830 Belgium in Ward 3, are his siblings. Also there is an Elizabeth Schmidt b. 1796 Belgium in Ward 5, and I think she will be there mother. In the 1850 census for Buffalo, ward 4, there is Elizabeth Schmidt b. abt. 1798 Germany, with sons: Nicholas age 18, Peter age 16, Francis age 13, Michael age 8 & John age 6. The first three were also listed as being born in Germany, and Michael & John in NY. In the 1870 census I find Nicholas and his family in Titusville, Crawford Co., PA., and in the 1880 census my Peter Smith family is in Bradford, McKean Co., PA. Not very far from Crawford Co. Any help on these families is very welcome, as I've been searching for over 10 years now for Peter's parents and siblings.
