I have information on Rev Robert Dick, who in 1856 patented a label machine named the DICK MAILER. There is no genealogical info but if you are related to him, what I do have would be of interest. His manse was located at 137 West Tupper andf he leased rights to use his machines for labeling newspapers. The business stayed in the DICK family for quite a few years, until about 1945. I purchased the business about 1973. Nelson, Thanks for the response. By any chance would you know if this Rev. Robert DICK was of Scottish or German origin? The DICK line I'm researching is of the former (but I have seen German-born DICKs, too). If Robert was of German descent, that would rule him out; that said, the name Robert is far more UK-ish than Germanic... I no longer have a census subscription, so I can't poke around the census any more. -- Jillaine At 08:41 PM 1/11/2005, Nelson Metke wrote: >I have information on Rev Robert Dick, who in 1856 patented a label machine >named the DICK MAILER. >There is no genealogical info but if you are related to him, what I do >have would be of interest. >His manse was located at 137 West Tupper andf he leased rights to use his >machines >for labeling newspapers. >The business stayed in the DICK family for quite a few years, until about >1945. >I purchased the business about 1973. >If you want more info, my email is metkenw@hotmail.com > > > >>From: Jillaine Smith <jillainedc@yahoo.com> >>Reply-To: NYERIE-L@rootsweb.com >>To: NYERIE-L@rootsweb.com >>Subject: [NYERIE] James DICK m.
