    2. Does anyone know where old employment records are kept. My grandfather worked their in the early 1900's and maybe I can gleam information from his "application"/employment record. Any ideas if these are stored somewhere. Thank you Angela

Once upon a time, Chris Andrle offered this list an excellent distinction about records. Due to various laws, some records (BMD, censuses land records, court records) are destroyed only by accident. Employment records, on the other hand, are in the other group. They survive only by accident. No law requires that they be saved beyond a few years. I have yet to hear of any comprehensive, surviving employment records for any defunct Buffalo firm. -=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=- Webmaster: Cynthia Van Ness, MLS -- roots AT bfn DOT org Buffalo Roots: Genealogy & Family History in Buffalo, NY http://www.buffaloresearch.com/roots.html

    3. Hello Angela , I kind of think you won`t find any records OR any thing on them of value , I worked at BSC in the `50s as a young man , I seem to remember filling in an App for the job , which asked for my name , my address and how old I was ! , As Bethlemham is kaupt as a Bizz i bet the records are long gone too !!!!! ----- Original Message ----- From: <Nicang7134@cs.com> To: <NYERIE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 18, 2005 08:43 Subject: Re: [NYERIE] Bethlehem Steel Corp. > Does anyone know where old employment records are kept.
