I have found a reference to the fact that an ancestor was living at 735 Delaware Ave., Buffalo. This was probably somewhere between 1900 and 1940. The surname was Waters, Brown or Starke (maiden name and two married names). Has anyone access to an old directory of Buffalo that might indicate whether any of those names turn up at that address anytime in that period? Thanks for any help or suggestions. Alan Brown

Alan, I'm going to give you a history of the occupants of 735 Delaware from the book "Buffalo's Delaware Avenue, Mansions and Families" by Edward T Dunn, Cansius College Press, 2003. In the 1880 census: John Trefts 55 Ohio iron merchant Angeline Trefts 45 NY ux. Eva Holloway 22 Ny daughter at home Ann Mackey 25 Ireland Nellie Mackey 10 Ireland In 1891: John Trefts In 1900: John Trefts 76 Ohio iron works Angeline Trefts 58NY ux. Evadne Trefts36 NY Rose Fox NY Mary Davis 21 Ireland In 1920: Albert W Starke 46 Illinois manager steel plant Jessica Starke 46 NY ux. George A Reynolds 26 NY relative Broker, investments Laura M Reynolds 24 In 1925: Apartments 10 residents On page 420 is the following: In 1880 the Queen Anne house at #735 Delaware (11.12 and 11.13) was home to John Trefts who had come to Buffalo in 1845 and became a partner of Chillion Farrar of #506 Delaware. By 1900 Anna, John Treft's widow, was still living at #735. In 1920 it was the residence of a steel plant manager, but by 1925 it had become a "converted multiple resident." There are two pictures of the house in the book. I do not believe that it is still standing. George
Thank you very much George. A hundred little puzzles were solved with your reply. But I can't help wondering what "ux" means after the name of two wives? Do you know if there are any marriage or death records available from Buffalo that are on-line? Or records from Forest Lawn Cemetery?
