I don't know if this Allcock could connect with your family. > >Anne in Melbourne > > Hi Ann I have no idea.... :0{ I keep finding people here in the US in the census's that we can trace back to St Helens Lancs England but as for Alcocks I have no idea we know so little about the name ..... Jolly and Alcock are both names found in St Helens , Lancashire England and elsewhere proberly...... Unfortunately in all the many years that we [cousins in the UK and me in the US] have been doing family history we only have 2 ALCOCK surnames and both are Elizabeth Alcock.... our many g-grandmother was a Elizabeth ALCOCK br 1763 ... and her mother was Elizabeth Alcock also...no father has been found for her at this time. Bpt 1 Jan 1764 Elizabeth Alcock illegitimate daughter of Elizabeth Alcock of Bold Burtonwood PR She married John Holden/Holding of Sutton St Helens Lancs Eng 24 april 1788 St Helens Chapel St Helens Lancs Eng. Those are our only 2 Alcock surnames we have in all the years of searching so far.... ELizabeth Holden nee Alcock was CHRISTINA HOLDEN nee BRICE's mother in law....Christina was married to her son James Holden.. after he died in 1846 Christina received a inheritance from her father for 36 £ with that money she took herself and her children cept for 1 son to Buffalo NY.....we think she went to other family members on her BRICE side that came from the IOM ... Sorry I can't tell you anything .. Luck in your searching SLC
